FLAC - Black Sabbath live in Hoffman Estates 1982 - 2CD - August 31

Black Sabbath live August 31st 1982 at Poplar Creek Music Theater in Hoffman Estates Illinois USA

This was the last show of the tour. You can really hear how fine tuned they played. Personal favorite! I played this recording over and over. I was working in the evening and got off at 8.00 pm and said to myself....."I think I will grab any old ticket and get that Sabbath show tonight". I went alone. In the theater they were inviting everyone down from the lawn as the entire last 20 rows was empty. It was a chore to move up in this place as they really watched for that there. But move up I did with only getting caught and thrown back to the end of the rows once. I ended up 6th row left center right in front of Geezer. GEEZER CAME OUT ON THIS RECORDING EXC+++!! STUNNING!. The drumming is also amazing....heck this entire show kept getting the WOW out of me. Best Sabbath I ever recorded. in the day I cranked this baby many many times on my best stereo system LOUD!

Notes: Transferred June, 2006. The source tape has strong autogain artifacts all over it, so I have put in 100+ (200+?) hours of my spare time over the last six months to reverse this. The raw transfer was almost unlistenable. Every effort has been made to keep the thousands of fixes as seamless as possible and I am quite satisfied with the results. You might notice the hiss levels rise from time to time as a side-effect, or perhaps (hopefully) you will not notice anything. No eq or other effects were used.

This has vastly improved sound quality compared to what commonly circulates, and the performance is considered one of the very best from this tour. The Stanko source (this one) appears to be uncirculated until now.

There is some uncertainty about the date. The cassettes are marked "Black Sabbath 5/26/82" and "MSG 5-26-82". Tom insists this is correct but after much digging and asking around I have not been able to confirm it, so I decided to use 1982-05-17 to avoid confusion. Included is a scan of the a-sides of the masters (there is no writing on the b-sides).
